Thursday! You finally arrived…

It’s Thursday, and the Longggggg weekend for memorial day is almost here! Seriously I am so ready for some time off and to do nothing! And by nothing planned this weekend I mean run a half marathon, go to the driving range, celebrate a fantastic girls birthday, hopefully go to the pool ( if it’s nice) and just relax!

Last night was Wednesday ( obviously) and it was BEAUTIFUL out for FREE Bootcamp on the Greenway with CitySports. We have three more Wednesday night classes, so if you were not one of the 100 people who came out last night, then sign up HERE and come to one of the next few classes. Look how happy they look, and healthy! Don’t you want to join them?!? Yes You DO! ( I can’t lie, I had another commitment last night so couldn’t make the class and was bummed but my friend MFA went and documented for me!).

While these fantastically fit people were getting their sweat on, I was eating and cooking at the Hilton Back Bay.

It's Getting Hot in Here

It’s Getting Hot in Here

We learned some quick and easy summer appetizers, got to taste some fantastic wines, and enjoy! It was set up as a great team bonding exercise for your clients, friends, family and co workers. If your looking for a great hotel, in the heart of the back bay, or an exciting event to attend I highly suggest a cooking class! You can check out the hotel here. You will not be disappointed, just look at that Mango Salsa!

This morning I slept in ( well until 6 am) which is late for me. Thursday’s are a special day for Little Miss and I as we get to commute to work/ school together. It’s our “us” time and I think I maybe love it more then here. We typically sing at least 1000 rounds of Let it Go, Stop at Dunkins for Munchkins, and chit chat. On special day’s we watch a quick show of Doc McStuffins, Princess Sophia, or facetime with Elmo. Yes you can Facetime with Elmo, no joke it’s a real thing ha. She graduates Pre K this Spring and that mean’s no more commuting buddies, so I am trying to soak all of our time up and enjoy every second. I find myself wanting to freeze her in time at this age, but when I think back I have wanted to freeze her in time at other ages as well, and then I can’t imagine not watching her grow up. ha and a little off tangent on there! But seriously she just makes me laugh so much and brings out the kid in me everyday!

Giggling the mornings away

Giggling the mornings away

I told her we looked really attractive in this picture, which of course promoted a question ( she needs to know but WHY to everything :)) so I explained attractive meant pretty, which she giggled at knowing we did not look like the “Standard Pretty”. It always makes me stop and think about the words I use in front of her and how I describe beauty to her. It’s really a simple concept in that fact that what I say/ do and other adults in her life shape the way she sees the world. This is a fantastic article on how to talk to little girls. A little excerpt from the article “Teaching girls that their appearance is the first thing you notice tells them that looks are more important than anything,” says Bloom. “I always bite my tongue when I meet little girls, restraining myself from my first impulse, which is to tell them how darn cute/ pretty/ beautiful/ well-dressed/ well-manicured/ well-coiffed they are…It’s our culture’s standard talking-to-little-girls icebreaker, isn’t it?” It’s really worth a read and might help change how you shape some little Misses in your life. You will always be the most beautiful little girl I know little one but I’ll try to remind you that you are so much more then just your looks. You are an athlete, a sister, a daughter, a niece, a jazz dancer, a reader, a speller, a learner, a Spanish speaking, frozen singing, happy, beautiful on the inside and outside kind of kid.

Also if your around Boston this weekend I am running this half. The Run to Remember. The event is to remember our fallen Police hero’s and is on Sunday. They are still looking for Volunteers as the event is sold out, so if you are around it’s a great race and day and way to honor those hero’s. You can sign up to volunteer here. This is one of my favorite half marathons, the course is through Boston an out and back, and it’s an early start ( this year 7am) so you get the whole day to enjoy after!

And in other news today at the office started out as a typical Thursday morning. AKA I was running late, had a sticker in my hair during a morning meeting, and was pretty sure my shirt and shirt were a little too “unkept” but oh well, smile and keep trucking right? Well we had a visitor! The World Series 2013 Boston Red Sox Ring.Okay so the ring didn’t walk itself into our office ha, but it was kindly brought in to brighten our Thursday and let our staffers wear it for a little. It is a HUGE hunk of jewelry!Β What a cool visit is that! I obviously love the Red Sox, and love the City of Boston, so it really was fun getting to wear this rock today.

And this blog is not meant to be all about what I eat, do at work, and play with Miss A so a little fitness work out for you to enjoy this Memorial Day Weekend. What are your Memorial Day Plans? This work out is great because you can do it at your own pace, and really push yourself when you are feeling tired at the end. It’s also quick, so even on a limited amount of time you can get a great work out in!

Work Out May 22nd

Happy Thursday!

Mondays love em or leave em?

Happy Monday!

Do you like Mondays? Dread Mondays? I try and start Mondays off on the right foot and embrace the start of a new week. Try a new work out, drink more water, sleep more. Mondays are my restart days. I also try and start Monday mornings off with a strength work out. Strength training leaves me sore, and it’s so much easier and enjoyable for me to go for a run, so I need a little push to do it. Mondays help at least start the week off with one strength training session. My view this morning also helped out a smile on my face.

This weekend was all over the map! We had a fantastic day with Queen Elsa on Saturday. The weather turned beautiful and Elsa was able to visit, sing, face paint and dance with us outside! Not sure who enjoyed Elsa more miss A or me. Those songs are pretty catchy!

Miss A seriously was in love with her! This weekend also included long walks, yoga, and a little too much wine! Extra wine is a good thing once in awhile right?!? A friend was in town this weekend so we checked out a yoga class and it was legit hysterical to overhear our conversations over class I am sure. While the instructor ( she was great! We are just two very hard core runner wired girls) kept telling us to introduce this body part to that body part and be in the moment the two of us were anything but in the “yoga moment”. I continually had to remind myself to pay attention to being present and not wondering where my friends pants were from, why her legs looked so tan, and that her butt looked great- yes those were legit all thoughts that ran through my head ha. Oops! We also spotted these wild turkeys before class just roaming her neighborhood.

20140519-160309.jpg these things are no joke! They were huge so clearly I made her take the photos as I was scared for my life ha.
We also got to eat dinner outside for the first time of the season. Don’t worry I took a fantastic picture of us out to dinner! Oh wait no I took a picture of the black sky ha. Dinner was really good ( clearly nachos and salad you can’t go wrong) but the service was really slowww. But it let us catch up and the little hiccups that kept happening were actually pretty funny.

20140519-160554.jpg isn’t that a great photo of five good girl friends having dinner together?!? Sunday was some
Long walks, sunshine and being a fantastic daughter and attempting to repay my parents with years of purchased grilled cheeses, salads and ultimately drinks with drinks on me. After years of using their club membership I finally did the mature and adult thing and got my own- wild and crazy I know ha. So Sunday I treated them to the first of many drinks on the porch. Not sure I will ever be able to repay the tabs I built up for them, but a drink counts a little right?

I try and start my Mondays off a little healthier then my weekends so went to the gym bright and early today. This is also an attempt to curb my candy addiction or at least counter it a little bit. Sometimes I am so tired on Mondays that I legit have no clue how I got to the gym/work/meetings but if I get the gym session in I know I at least am starting on the right foot. I also get to see this view, so all is okay.

20140519-161157.jpg
Clearly you also can’t finish your Monday without a picture of me and my CP to help you get through the day, so here you go, your welcome! Clearly is was not taken in the bathroom at the gym today either.
