This week has FLOWN by! I am also off tomorrow to head here to celebrate a fantastic Bachelorette! I wanted to start off today with a question I get all the time, and someone asked me it this morning, “HOW DO I KNOW I AM READY FOR A MARATHON?”. There is a great article here you can read from Runners World.
The Main points and takeaways are:
1. Can you commit the time to training? A minimal of 4 months training for a marathon is recommended.
2. When you are 4 months out in training ( AKA your starting point) you should be able to cover a long run of 10 miles. This means if you need to build up to 10 miles you will need to start a training cycle of perhaps 6 months or a year.
3. Have you been running injury free for 2-3 months? If the answer is no, then it’s not a good time to take on marathon training.
4. Is your minimal weekly mileage averaging 20 miles plus? If not you need to rethink your base training. If you are covering over 20 miles per week then you can think of increasing your training. Never more then 10% per week and back off when you feel injured, fatigued, or burnt out.
Also September is here, ready or not fall and all things fall have arrived. And yes that includes all things Pumpkin at Dunkin too. But also the best news yet from DD, beyond opening in California is that they have added Almond Milk to their menu and drink options- awesome right? If your an Almond Milk person you are probably ecstatic for this news! I also ordered my first pumpkin coffee of the season. I ask for one pump PUMPKIN so it’s not too sweet but a nice treat!
Also last night was one of the last ( next week is the last) Free Bootcamp on the Greenway with CitySports Boston. If you have not made it to one of the free Bootcamps or Fitness activities around Boston this summer, then you NEED to come next Wednesday, 6-7 on the Greenway in the North End, RSVP here. It’s Free. Do it.
September is all about starting a new. A new Season. A new you. Some new goals. And new standards. What are yours going to be? My September will be BUSY!!!!

Today I kicked off the day with a hills workout and some running. It was hard, but it flew by. I did back to back classes ( Thursday’s are Hills and Drills) so we head to the Beacon Hill Hills in Boston. With Back to Back classes I got to chat to people and the 22 miles actually went by pretty quickly!
