Marathons and Almond Milk, plus a little pumpkin.

Happy Thursday!
This week has FLOWN by! I am also offย  tomorrow to head here to celebrate a fantastic Bachelorette! I wanted to start off today with a question I get all the time, and someone asked me it this morning, “HOW DO I KNOW I AM READY FOR A MARATHON?”. There is a great article here you can read from Runners World.
The Main points and takeaways are:
1. Can you commit the time to training? A minimal of 4 months training for a marathon is recommended.
2. When you are 4 months out in training ( AKA your starting point) you should be able to cover a long run of 10 miles. This means if you need to build up to 10 miles you will need to start a training cycle of perhaps 6 months or a year.
3. Have you been running injury free for 2-3 months? If the answer is no, then it’s not a good time to take on marathon training.
4. Is your minimal weekly mileage averaging 20 miles plus? If not you need to rethink your base training. If you are covering over 20 miles per week then you can think of increasing your training. Never more then 10% per week and back off when you feel injured, fatigued, or burnt out.

Are you ready to tackle 26.2?!?!
Are you ready to tackle 26.2?!?!

Also September is here, ready or not fall and all things fall have arrived. And yes that includes all things Pumpkin at Dunkin too. But also the best news yet from DD, beyond opening in California is that they have added Almond Milk to their menu and drink options- awesome right? If your an Almond Milk person you are probably ecstatic for this news! I also ordered my first pumpkin coffee of the season. I ask for one pump PUMPKIN so it’s not too sweet but a nice treat!

DD + Almond Milk = Best Day Ever.

Today I kicked off the day with a hills workout and some running. It was hard, but it flew by. I did back to back classes ( Thursday’s are Hills and Drills) so we head to the Beacon Hill Hills in Boston. With Back to Back classes I got to chat to people and the 22 miles actually went by pretty quickly!

Wild Wednesday!

Hello Wednesday!
Do you feel like before a long weekend the week goes by slow or fast?
Typically I feel like I have so much to do and not enough time to do it, but this week I am trucking right along! I am still not feeling great from this head cold weird allergy thing, but feeling better ish. I saw this quote and loved it! We are always changing, and as long as we like who we are changing into that is pretty darn good!

I think I like who I am becoming.

Also as we round out August and head into September ( I am hoping for that perfect fall/ summer weather combo!) I wanted to add a new challenge to my mix. Ab strength is so important for runners so I’ll be planking away this September if you want to join!

Wanna plank with me?

Wanna plank with me?

We can do it together, right? Why not! No one ever complained their ABS were too toned did they? Also speaking of ABS ( and arms) here is a legit do anywhere quick burn session. I did it on a BOAT so yes it can be done anywhere!

and…. since it’s WEDNESDAY….it’s FREE Bootcamp with CitySports tonight on the Greenway 6-7pm.ย  ADDED BONUS: NEWTON Running will be shoe demoing at the class, so don’t miss out! this class is FREE so don’t miss out! Check this out here for 21 FREE Fitness classes in AMERICA.
